How to Root & Install Clock Work Mod Recovery in Galaxy Tab 2 P5110 Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 smart tab now can be rooted and installed with the latest version of Clock Work Mod recovery and can be rooted too. In the process of this article, we will be checking out on what are the list of pre requisites you need to follow along with the detailed guide on how to apply this update. Please be informed that, once you root the device and install the clock work mod recovery in your Galaxy Tab 2, the warranty will get void. The biggest advantage of rooting the device and installing CWM recovery image is that one can easily install the custom ROM firmwares along with the apps which need the rooting access.

To make use of custom ROM firmwares, one has to root and install the clock work mod recovery in the device. Please note that once the device is rooted, the warranty will get void and the only way with which you can reclaim the root access is by re applying the official update which we will be very soon coming up. Also, you need to note down the current firmware version your device is on from the path “Settings > About Tablet” so that to revoke the root access, you need to apply with the same firmware.
Let’s get started with the detailed list of pre requisites which you need to follow.
Pre Requisites:
•    Install all the Galaxy Tab 2 drivers (32-bit | 64-bit)in your computer including the KIES PC Suite and .Net Framework in your computer. Active USB ports with Read / Write access is a must.
•    All the policies like antivirus and firewall services should be turned Off or disabled as these will interrupt the process of rooting and installation of CWM.
•    With the help of below mentioned steps, you need to back up all the data present in your Galaxy Tab 2 so that just in case if the data in your tab gets corrupted opr deleted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Alternatively, you can also back up the data with the help of KIES.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
•    USB Debugging in Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 should be enabled from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked. Last but not the least, you need to ensure that a minimum of 60% battery should be left to ensure that the device doesn’t get turned Off in the process of rooting and installing CWM.
Procedure to Root & Install Clock Work Mod Recovery in Galaxy Tab 2:
•    Download Odin, CWM Recovery Image&Rooting Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, place the cwm-root-gtab2a.zip file in your device by connecting the Tab 2 to the computer with the help of original USB cable. Extract Odin and open the same while you need to extract the downloaded CWM recovery image to get the tar file.
•    After this, disconnect the Tab 2 from computer and turn it Off so that it can be then entered in the Download Mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Down rocker Key + Power button and then when you see the Yellow triangle, press the Volume Down rocker key to enter the Tab 2 in the download mode. (Volume Down is the left rocker key while the Volume Up button is the right rocker key)
•    Open Odin in your computer and connect your Tab 2 to computer with the help of USB cable. Once you connect, you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow.
Note: If the ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,
• Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
• Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
•    Click on “PDA” tab in Odin to select “recovery.tar.md5” from the extracted files. Once it’s done, click on “Start” to start the process of rooting.
•    It will take around 2 – 3 minutes to flash the recovery in your device. Once it’s done, the device will either re boot or will land back on the recovery mode screen.
•    Now, disconnect the device and turn off the device so that we can now proceed to the next step.
•    Now, you need to enter the Tab 2 in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in Tab 2 can be entered by pressing the Volume down rocker key + power button at the same time while the device is turned Off. If the device boots up in the normal mode, you need to re try the process of the entering the device into the recovery mode.
•    In recovery mode, select “install zip from sdcard” > “choose zip from sdcard” > select “cwm-root-gtab2a.zip” which you have placed in the device and select “Yes” with the help of volume rocker keys and power button. It will take around 3 – 4 minutes to install the recovery and to root.
Tip: Just in a rare case due to some reasons if the process of rooting gets stuck in the middle or the device gets into the boot loop mode, then you need to apply the update again by following the steps again from the start. Don’t forget to restore the backup which you have taken in the initial steps.
